Shepherd’s Purse – capsella bursapastoris – This herb is used to stop hemorrhages. It treats: nose bleeds, blood in urine, excessive menstruation, after chilbirth bleeding, bleeding from the lungs, and bleeding from the stomach. The reason it is so powerful a bloodclotter is because it has a high content of vitamin K. Shepherd’s purse can also be used, in a sitz bath, to sooth hemorrhoids.
