Greek Oregano – origanum vulgaris hirtum – a much used herb in Mediterranean cooking. A very antiseptic herb. This herb can be used, internally, to treat colds, fevers, flu, stomach aches, and cramps – it is diaphoretic, calming, sedating and antispasmodic. Oregano is also a diuretic, and expectorant. Externally, oregano has been used to relieve the pain of rheumatism, arthritis, and swellings.
